There is no upside to the current health threats facing us as Canadians, or even as citizens of the globe, but we can do what is in our power to mitigate the risks and adapt to the challenges.

When IndieTeach began operations three years ago, we were solely delivering English language training to speakers of foreign languages. That was our focus and that was where we determined to be effective.

Nevertheless, we knew that we had resources (in the skills and experience of teachers) which were being neglected. Though we once advised our teachers to apply their non-ESL skills as they were able, the onset of the COVID pandemic has revealed a need and opportunity for Indie Teachers to serve their communities.

School classes, without school risk

Beginning in September of 2020, Indie Teachers will apply themselves to teaching general curriculum courses to interested students. This will be a learning experience for all.

Teachers will have to familiarize themselves, adapt and adopt regulation curriculum for specific geographic regions. the administration will have to accommodate schedules and assessments required by regional educational authorities, and of course students and family will have to adapt to an unfamiliar learning experience.

The goal is for learners to be fully prepared to take any end-of-term assessments and to excel.

Home schooling; professional teachers

The plan for teachers and administration is to determine the needs of students and proscribed curriculum of relevant regions and to provide appropriate and timely instruction. The goal is for learners to be fully prepared to take any end-of-term assessments and to excel.

As of this publication, IndieTeach has instructors able to provide classes in:

  • English (elementary through secondary grade levels)
  • Mathematics (elementary through early secondary grade levels)
  • General Science (elementary grade levels)
  • Biology (early secondary grade levels)
