Distance Learning is somewhat of an umbrella term, used to refer to various forms of education and instruction delivery where the students, the teacher, or both are not physically present in a classroom. At IndieTeach, “distance education” is provided through online classrooms primarily, though some courses may include a written, correspondence element.
Learners who opt for distance learning instruction need to be able to provide:
- A stable, fast internet connection,
- A quiet, well-lit learning area with no distractions,
- A good web camera and microphone. A headset or earbuds are also recommended.

Lessons are conducted through an online classroom and whiteboard application in real time. Students will interact directly with the instructor and other students enrolled in the same course.
Distance learning instructors are relatively powerless to control unruly or unfocused students, so those who enroll in distance courses need to be diligent and motivated students, or be under the supervision of parents.
All courses currently offered through IndieTeach can be taken online.
Course materials will either be provided online, emailed, or delivered to the student.
Lessons begin and end promptly at agreed times. Course duration depends on student schedule.
